Welcome to our 61st Season
(2010-2011)

The fifth concert of the 2010-2011 Season is
The Abbey Road Band
on Friday, April 1, 2011:

The Abbey Road Band has been performing their Beatles tribute show since 2002. Headquartered in Rapid City, SD, they are known throughout the Dakotas. They are a group of veteran musicians who also happen to be passionate Beatle fans. They have discussed at length "how to present a fitting tribute to the Beatles without fake wigs, costumes and some attempt to actually look like the Beatles". They're not 20 years old anymore, so they decided that their emphasis would be on the music and the sound. The challenge of performing Beatles music live, especially from the later albums, is met through the use of synthesizers and digital drums. Every part is live. Its fun music and they're having fun playing it and involve the audience as much as possible during the show.

No smoke and mirrors, no wigs or costumes, this band is the real thing. Not only are they great musicians, they are professional fun-loving people with a great respect for the Beatles songs and sound.

Abbey Road Band in performance

Some press reviews of The Abbey Road Band's performances:

Young and old took a trip back to the sixties when Rapid City’s own Abbey Road Band performed at the Women’s Expo in Dickinson, North Dakota. The “lads” were a huge hit to say the least.

Abbey Road is clearly not your average cover band. The music was right on with instrumentation and vocals so tight you’d swear you were sitting in Ed Sullivan’s studio.

These guys are polished professionals and did a wonderful job of interacting with the crowd. They’re not only gifted musicians, they were highly entertaining and the audience embraced them whole heartedly. They were personable, funny and genuinely nice guys. And, they stuck around to visit with the fans after the show.

Abbey Road’s love and enthusiasm for their craft really shows. They had fun and so did we. They played hit after hit ending with a standing ovation and the audience pleading for more.

If you are looking for talent, do yourself a favor take a trip down Abbey Road.

- Jerry Obrigewitsch, The Dickinson Press, Dickinson, ND, September 13, 2008

I cannot express how much your group added to the event as a whole, and specifically to the meaning and impact of the Video program itself.

The feedback from the folks here at Sanford and all of our attendees has been extremely positive. You are a talented, but even more importantly, a committed and positive group of gentlemen, who exemplify so well the values and warm spirited attitude of great South Dakotans.

Thanks so very much for everything, and I will send out the videos once I have them here.

- Brian R. Mortenson, President, Sanford Health Foundation
